1898 Waverly Inn is the oldest surviving inn in Hendersonville. This inn was built at one end of Hendersonville’s wide tree-lined streets when guests walked on boardwalks and oil lamps were at the street corners. We have been making guests feel comfortable since they arrived by train or stagecoach. But we have been quick to embrace modern conveniences! We’ve had electricity available since 1903 and telephone since 1904! Relax in the ambiance of the past with our southern rocking chair porches, in-town convenience, mountain flavor and first-class amenities at 1898 Waverly Inn.
A unique town with restaurants, boutiques, galleries, jewelry stores, antique stores, gift shops and the Southern Appalachian Brewery within easy walking distance of the Inn.
We are in Western North Carolina nineteen miles south of Asheville and Biltmore Estate, centrally located for everything you want to do.
We feature your favorite breakfast classics as well a daily special each and every morning. Our special varies each day but some of the past favorites have been our Pimento Cheese and Sausage Quiche, Strawberries and Cream French Toast Bake, Vegetable Frittatas and Caramel Apple Belgian Waffles.
"I travelled to the 1898 Waverly Inn for a long weekend to meet my daughter, her husband, and younger children. We stayed in a two-bedroom suite that had plenty of space for the 5 of us. We all had a fabulous time. The Inn is set in great location just a few blocks from the downtown so we were easily able to walk to food, drink and entertainment. It is also only a short ride away from area activities in and around the Asheville area. Mike and Tracey, the owners of the Inn, were very hospitable from providing a delicious home-cooked breakfast every morning to mingling during the nightly happy hours. I look forward to another stay in the future."
"The Inn is beautiful, and the location is perfect! We walked to restaurants every night! Our room was very cute and clean, with plenty of space. Mike and Tracey are amazing hosts, and breakfast was delicious. We can’t wait to go back again!"
"We are natives to this area but have never taken the time to be a tourist here. We wanted somewhere that felt like home, learn the history about the Waverly, and just take a night away for ourselves. The Waverly is outstanding on so many levels! From greetings from Mike the owner along with his wife Tracy. The rooms are vintage and very clean. You honestly feel at home when you walk through the doors. It is beautifully decorated and close to main street so you can walk and shop and come back. We want this to be a every December tradition we make. Please take the time to read the history on the Waverly and come by and see it!"
